Located on the border between Maricopa and Yavapai counties, the city of Peoria has a population of about 147,000 residents and is a major suburb of the nearby city of Phoenix. Peoria is currently the fourth largest city in the state in terms of land area, and the ninth largest in population. However, most of the city’s growth is taking place in Peoria’s northern districts. Most of the city’s education is provided by the Peoria Unified School District, as well as the Deer Valley School District. The city also offers great recreational and family activities at places such as Lake Pleasant Regional Park and the Challenger Space Center of Arizona. Lake Pleasant Regional Park is a beautiful recreation area that offers many water activities such as boating, sailing, and fishing, as well as camping, hiking, and picnicking.
