Located in Maricopa County, the city of Tempe has a bustling population of about 175,000 residents and is named after the Vale of Tempe in Greece. The city is located in the East Valley section of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area and is the most densly-populated city in the state. However, the district has experience some change upon the completion of Tempe Town Lake, which is a commercial and high-rise development that transformed the cityscape of the district and the skyline of Tempe’s downtown district.
